CHANDIGARH: Punjab Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal, on Saturday, rebutted the remarks of Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, who alleged that floods in Punjab were triggered by illegal mining.

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government has undertaken special measures to ensure the safety and welfare of the elderly during the devastation caused by floods across the state. The Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development has identified 479 elderly persons from flood-affected areas. With the support of district administrations and the Red Cross Society, assistance is being extended to these elderly persons. This was disclosed by Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur.

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister S. Hardeep Singh Mundian, on Thursday, informed that 1902 villages across 22 districts have been affected due to unprecedented floods in the state, impacting a population of over 3.84 lakh people in 15 districts. He said that to accommodate the affected population, 196 relief camps are operational, registering an increase of 29 camps compared to yesterday. Extensive damage has also reported to standing crops over 1.71 lakh hectares of farmland across the state, with Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Kaputhala and Mansa among the worst hit districts.

FAZILKA: A central team deputed by the Government of India to assess the flood-affected regions of Punjab commenced its visit today from Fazilka district.

PHAGWARA: In a bid to maintain law and order, the Punjab government has imposed a complete ban on the public display of weapons within the district of Kapurthala. The directive was issued by District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal, under the powers granted by Section 163 of the Punjab Civil Services Rules, 2023.

The department has already recovered Rs. 1.85 crores in the current financial year 2025–26, and permission has been granted to sell 27 properties with a combined base value of Rs. 20.31 crores (at Collector Rate), marking a significant step toward financial accountability.

While bills were forwarded to the administration, only partial payments have reportedly been made to a few individuals, leaving many without any reimbursement despite repeated visits to government offices.

The cabinet minister said that after recieving complaints of crushers involved in illegal mining and damaging mother nature in Khera Kalmot Area, a videography team was sent by the Mining Department and after the investigations, all the crushers of Khera Kalmot belt have been sealed.

CHANDIGARH: Punjab School Education and Public Works Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, on Tuesday, released the list of best government schools for the session 2020-21 on the basis of overall grading. Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that the ranking of the schools has been divided into three categories; middle, high and senior secondary schools and top performing schools from each district would be given a reward of Rs. 5 lakh, 7.5 lakh and 10 lakh, respectively.

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Government today issued the treatment and diagnosis guidelines for Mucormycosis.Disclosing this here today, the Health Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that State Government has already declared Mucormycosis, popularly known as black fungus as a notified disease.
