AMRITSAR: The 180th martyrdom day of the great General of the Sikh community, Sham Singh Attariwala, was celebrated with full devotion and respect by the Punjab Government at India Gate and Attari Samadh today. On the occasion of the state-level martyrdom function, Punjab Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO was the chief guest and S. Jaswinder Singh Ramdas, MLA, Attari constituency, and Dr. Jasbir Singh Sandhu, MLA, Amritsar West, were present as special guests.
On this occasion, at the memorial of the great General Sham Singh Attariwala built at India Gate, Cabinet Minister S. Harbhajan Singh ETO, MLA Dr. Jasbir Singh Sandhu, Brigadier S.S. Jamwal, Commander 54 Infantry Brigade, Colonel Sumit Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Dalwinderjit Singh, Police Commissioner S. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, SDM S. Mankanwal Singh Chahal, Colonel Harinder Singh, Colonel Kuldeep Singh paid tributes to the statue of martyr Sardar Sham Singh Attariwala. On this occasion, the soldiers of Punjab Police also saluted the great General Sardar Sham Singh Attariwala by lowering their weapons.
On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO paid homage to Sardar Sham Singh Attari Wala Ji by paying homage to him. He also visited the Sardar Sham Singh Attari Wala Museum. Later, while paying tribute to Sardar Sham Singh Attari Wala in the religious Diwan, Cabinet Minister S. Harbhajan Singh ETO said that Sardar Sham Singh Attari Wala was a great general of the Sikh community and he will always be remembered for fighting till the last breath in the Battle of Sabhraon during the Anglo-Sikh War. He said that the bravery and martyrdom of Sardar Sham Singh Attariwala have also been praised by the British. He said that martyrs are the hero of the nation and it is our moral duty to remember our martyrs.
On this occasion, the family members of Sardar Sham Singh Attari and the office bearers of the trust, Colonel Harinder Singh Attari, Malwinder Attari, Bir Inder Singh, General Secretary Mr. Harpreet Singh Sidhu, Mrs. Amiteshwar Kaur, Mrs. Jaspreet Kaur, Mrs. Sandeep Kaur, Mr. Dinesh Singh Sidhu, Inder Jasbir Singh Sandhu Lopoke, Anantbir Singh, Charanjit Singh, Ramandeep Kaur, Ravi Inder Singh, Colonel Gurbant Singh, Mrs. Harman Singh, Jaskiran Kaur, Ramandeep Kaur, Sarpanch Attari Harpreet Singh were specially honored. On this occasion, Cabinet Minister S. Harbhajan Singh ETO also released the book ``The Last Pillar of the Sikh Raj-Sardar Sham Singh Attariwala'' by eminent writer Dr. Kulwinder Kaur Minhas.
