PHILLAUR: Panic gripped passengers and railway staff at Phillaur Railway Station on Thursday morning when an unidentified middle-aged man climbed onto the roof of a DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) train that had just arrived from Sultanpur Lodhi. The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m., moments after the train came to a halt on one of the platforms. 

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Police on Wednesday registered a First Information Report (FIR) against state Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring for allegedly making casteist remarks against former Union Home Minister late Buta Singh.

CHANDIGARH: On a contempt petition, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered a penalty against four senior officers, including DGP Gaurav Yadav, for failing to comply with its directions to act against illegally modified vehicles operating in the state. 

PHILLAUR: In a deeply distressing case from Phillaur, a 14-year-old minor girl gave birth to a baby boy inside an ambulance en route to the Civil Hospital. Tragically, the newborn died six days later, prompting a police investigation that has led to the arrest of the alleged rapist. 

AMRITSAR: In a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Amritsar Rural Police has busted a Cross-Border Arms Smuggling Module with links to Pakistan and recovered a cache of sophisticated weapons and huge quantity of ammunition from village Ghonewal, near the Ravi river close to the Indo-Pak border, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Tuesday.
