PHAGWARA: Tension gripped the Banga area on Monday afternoon after a firing incident between two local groups left five youths injured, two of them critically. Senior Superintendent of Police Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar while confirming the incident told this correspondent late evening that according to preliminary police information, the confrontation appears to have stemmed from an ongoing rivalry between the groups.

PHAGWARA: An unidentified, partially charred body of a woman was discovered on Friday morning in farmland near Sultanpur Lodhi, triggering a police investigation into a suspected case of murder. According to reports received here today the incident came to light around 10:30 a.m. when Manpreet Singh, a resident of Sultanpur Lodhi and currently farming 11 acres of leased land belonging to Jagdeep Singh of Georgepur, visited the fields to inspect recently sown wheat.

PHAGWARA: In a significant development, a local court on Thursday sent Punjabi singer Hassan Manak alias Hassan Khan to judicial remand of 14 days in connection with a case involving allegations of cheating, fraud, and sexual assault lodged by a UK-based NRI woman. The accused was produced before the Judicial Magistrate, Phagwara, who ordered his remand following preliminary interrogation by police officials.
