CHANDIGARH: The Gender Equity Society (SAHASI) in collaboration with Students’ Welfare (girls), of Post Graduate Government College Sector-46 Chandigarh organized a meaningful celebration of International Women’s Day on March 3, 2026.
The programme was conducted under the patronage of Principal Prof. Nisha Aggarwal, Dean Prof. Sneh Harshinder Sharma, and Vice Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar. The event aimed to promote awareness about gender equality and reaffirm the institution’s commitment to inclusive growth.
In her address, Principal Prof. Nisha Aggarwal emphasized the importance of equality for both men and women, highlighting that true progress lies in mutual respect, shared responsibilities, and equal opportunities. She encouraged students to uphold values of dignity and fairness in all spheres of life.
The Guest Speaker, Romita Yumnam, title holder of Mrs India India Queen of Substance , 2019, delivered an inspiring talk on embracing one’s identity with pride. She spoke about the strength and resilience of women, particularly highlighting the legacy of Manipuri women and the historic Ima (Ema) Market as a powerful symbol of women-led enterprise and collective empowerment. Her reflections encouraged students to take pride in their heritage and in the multifaceted strength of womanhood.
