Major Drug Haul in Palampur: Police Seize Over 2 Kg Hashish, Two Arrested

DHARAMSALA: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Palampur Police recovered 2.040 kilograms of hashish from a Maruti Swift car (registration number HP01M-5132) during a routine blockade in the Chachian area of Kangra district.

Providing details of the operation, Superintendent of Police (Kangra) Shalini Agnihotri stated that two persons, identified as Rohit and Omkar Singh, residents of Jogindernagar in Mandi district, were arrested on the spot. The contraband was recovered during a thorough search of the vehicle.

A case has been registered against the accused at Palampur Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Police are currently interrogating the accused to uncover the source of the narcotics and identify the intended destination for the supply. Further investigation is underway to expose the wider network involved in drug smuggling.

The police have reiterated their commitment to the ongoing anti-drug campaign and have urged the public to support the effort. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activity related to drug trafficking to the nearest police station immediately.
