PHAGWARA: The Nakodar City police have arrested two gangsters on the charge of extortion and criminal conspiracy.
Nakodar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sukhpal Singh said the accused have been identified as Aditya Rai alias Munish a resident of Purewal Colony Nakodar and Siyam alias Saim (Juvenile ) a resident of Mohalla Sundar Nagar Station House Officer (SHO) Aman Saini said the accused had demanded Rs 1 crore ransom from a resident, threatening to kill him if he failed to pay in time.
SHO said a case under section 308 (5) (extortion by putting person in fear of death), 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) and 351(3)(criminal custody) of the BNS and their two accomplices Sukhjindar Singh alias Sunni a resident of Nawan Pind Donewal village under Lohian Khas police station. and Ramandeep Singh, a resident of Purewal Colony, Nakodar.
The SHO said that a motorcycle and three mobile phones have been recovered from them, and the accused are involved in many cases of extortion.
