Seeds and fertilizers will be provided to farmers in flood-affected areas on priority basis: Khuddian

PHAGWARA: Punjab Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian announced that the Agriculture Department will prioritize the distribution of seeds and fertilizers to farmers in flood-affected areas of Punjab.

This initiative aims to ensure timely sowing of the next crop without disruptions. The announcement was made during a visit to the flood-hit villages of Kamnewal and Baghuwal in Kapurthala district, accompanied by Revenue Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian.

The ministers, assigned by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to oversee relief operations, assessed the situation on the ground. Speaking at Kamnewal village, S. Khuddian reassured residents, stating, "The Punjab government stands firmly with the people during this crisis, leaving no stone unturned to provide support."

Emphasizing the importance of livestock welfare, Minister Khuddian directed the Deputy Director of the Veterinary Department to ensure regular health check-ups for animals in flood-affected areas. Veterinary doctors across Punjab have been instructed to access these areas by boat, conduct health assessments, and administer necessary vaccinations.
Infrastructure and Relief Measures.

Responding to local demands for protective ring embankments to prevent future flooding, the ministers instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Kapurthala and Drainage Department officials to promptly prepare and submit a detailed project report for the proposed embankments.

On this occasion, District Planning Board Chairman Sarbjit Singh Lubana, Chairman of Improvement Trust and Sultanpur Lodhi Halqa Incharge Sajjan Singh Cheema, Kapurthala Halqa Incharge Advocate Karmbir Singh Chandi, Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal, SSP Gaurav Toora, Additional Deputy Commissioner Navneet Kaur Ball, Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. H.P.S. Bharot, Deputy Director Dr. R.P. Singh, and others were present .
