Flood-affected people should contact Gurdwaras managed by SGPC: Advocate Dhami.

AMRITSAR: Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, expressed deep concern over the flood situation in Punjab and appealed to the Sangat in this difficult time to pay close attention to the maintenance of Gurdwaras in the villages and to transport the sacred Bir of Sri Guru Granth Sahib from the affected areas to safe places.

In a statement issued, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that work should be done in unity to get out of the crisis..

He said that the SGPC has instructed the managers of all the Gurdwaras under its management to cooperate in this difficult time. Arrangements for taverns and langars for the congregation are continuing continuously. Apart from this, the situation is also being known by reaching out to the people and the SGPC is contacting them in every way for help.

He said that in this difficult time, while people need necessary facilities, it is also necessary to transport the holy images from the Guru Ghars to safe places. In this regard, the devotees should avail the services of the nearby historical Gurdwara Sahibs. Every Gurdwara Sahib managed by the Shiromani Committee is ready for this assistance. The Shiromani Committee has also made arrangements to bring the holy images and the devotees can contact the nearby Gurdwara Sahibs as per the requirement.

Advocate Dhami has also expressed concern over the inundation of huge amount of water inside Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib Kartarpur Sahib located in Pakistan. He said that seeing the water-filled scene of this historical place has deeply pained his mind. Advocate Dhami reiterated that the Shiromani Committee is always present for the affected people and the Gurdwaras can be contacted for the required services. He appealed to the governments to pay high attention to the relief works and be committed to the services required by the people.
