Two sent in judicial custody one on three days police remand.
KAITHAL: Besides making the general public aware about cyber crimes , the district police as per order of SP Aastha Modi police is tightening screws of Cyber criminals. Following this strategy three accused were arrested by the cybercrime police in a digital arrest of a local resident who was cheated of Rs 55.30 lakh. The police spokesperson said that according to the complaint of Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Kaithal, a WhatsApp message came on his mobile at around 12:45 pm on May 29, in which "Crime Branch Mumbai" was written.
Soon after, a video call came from the same number. The caller called himself an officer of the Mumbai Crime Branch and said that a mobile number released in the name of Ramesh Kumar has been used in fraud. When he denied this, the accused asked for an Aadhaar card. To prove himself right, he sent a photo of his Aadhaar card. After this, the accused said that his bank accounts have been used in money laundering and he is accused of taking a commission of Rs 20 lakh. The accused was told that a case has been registered against you and sent him copies of the case and documents of the Supreme Court. The accused replied that he would go to court and talk about releasing you.
The next day the accused said that the court has given you 3 days time, during this time the amount and other amount deposited in the bank accounts will be checked. On May 31, the caller got Rs 23 lakh transferred from his bank account. The accused kept him on video calls and audio calls continuously and grabbed Rs 55 .30 lakhs from him. Later the victim came to know about the fraud . A case was registered in the police station cybercrime. The spokesman said that SP Aastha Modi had ordered the arrest of the accused at the police station cybercrime as soon as possible. Coming to meet the orders, the team of ASI Vinod Kumar, led by PSI Shubhranshu, the police station, arrested accused Jahangirpur district Gautam Nagar UP resident Himanshu Sharma and Ravi Kumar and village Ikhu district Mathura UP resident Rahul Kumar. The three accused Ravi Kumar has been received on 3 days police remand for extensive questioning.
