Haryana Governor pays tribute to Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and Bhagwan Birsa Munda on their martyrdom day

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya on Monday paid solemn tributes to two iconic heroes of Indian history, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and Bhagwan Birsa Munda, on their martyrdom day, remembering their unmatched contributions in the struggle against oppression and for justice.

In his message, Governor Shri Dattatraya said, “Today, we honour the unparalleled courage and sacrifice of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, who laid the foundation of justice and self-rule in Punjab and stood tall against the tyranny of the Mughals. His unwavering commitment to righteousness and his supreme sacrifice continue to inspire generations.”

Shri Dattatraya also remembered the legendary tribal freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda, who valiantly resisted British colonial rule and became a symbol of empowerment for the tribal communities of India. “Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s fearless resistance and his dream of a just and equitable society reflect the spirit of India’s tribal pride and cultural heritage, ” he said.

The Governor emphasized that the lives of both these great sons of India serve as a guiding light in our collective journey towards justice, equality, and national unity. He urged the youth of the country to draw inspiration from their lives and contribute to building a strong, inclusive, and self-reliant India.

Shri Dattatraya concluded by calling upon citizens to honour the memory of such heroes by upholding the values they stood for – bravery, sacrifice, social justice, and the spirit of freedom.
