KAITHAL: The mortal remains of the martyr Grenadier Gurmeet Singh posted in Jammu Kashmir wrapped in the tricolor reached his ancestral village. today .Two days ago, he was admitted to RR Hospital in Delhi due to his ill health. After seven years of service, Gurmeet Singh breathed his last at RR Hospital in Delhi on Tuesday.
Gurmeet Singh joined as soldier in the army in 2017 and was posted in the 20th Battalion Grenadier Regiment in Srinagar. Five months ago, he returned to duty after leave. Gurmeet was not yet married. Gurmeet studied in the village government school itself. After doing 12th, he was recruited to the post of soldier in the army in 2017. The family comprises , parents, one sister Sunita and an elder brother Mandeep. Martyr Gurmeet was given a final farewell with state honors in the ancestral village Karoda today. Elder brother Mandeep lit the pyre.
The family said that he is proud of Gurmeet's martyrdom.
