DHARAMSALA: Tragedy struck in Dadhamb village under Shahpur Police Station on Sunday when a man lost his life after being hit by lightning. The deceased has been identified as 46-year-old Vijay Kumar.
According to police reports, Vijay Kumar was working in the fields along with other villagers when a sudden lightning strike hit the area. He was rushed to Shahpur Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The body has been sent to Dharamshala Hospital for postmortem.
In a related development, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall across five districts — Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, and Solan. The department has cautioned both tourists and locals to avoid waterlogged areas, riverbanks, and landslide-prone zones, warning that water levels in rivers may rise rapidly following heavy downpours. Possibilities of landslides have also been flagged.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and follow safety advisories to prevent any untoward incidents amid ongoing monsoon activity.
