CHANDIGARH: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh called out the unconstitutional overreach by the AAP government in Punjab, slamming the decision to appoint the Chief Secretary as Chairman of all urban planning and development authorities—including PUDA, GMADA, GLADA, JDA, BDA, ADA, PDA and others—as a “blatant bureaucratic coup executed to hand Punjab’s assets over to Kejriwal’s coterie.”
Chugh said the move is an open assault on democratic governance and an insult to Punjab's elected leadership. “Will Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his cabinet now report to a bureaucrat? Has Punjab’s cabinet been reduced to a puppet show run by Kejriwal’s inner circle?” he questioned.
He warned that the timing of this move is deeply suspicious. “It comes just before the AAP government's plan to acquire thousands of acres of Punjab’s land—including 24, 000 acres in Ludhiana alone. This is not governance—it is daylight robbery wrapped in a bureaucratic order.”
Chugh said that the people of Punjab must see through this dangerous pattern—where unelected members of Kejriwal’s coterie now exercise control over the state’s institutions. “This isn’t federalism. This is political colonization where Punjab’s wealth is being siphoned off by Kejriwal’s trusted few, ” he said.
He demanded the immediate withdrawal of the notification and restoration of authority to elected ministers who are directly accountable to Punjab’s citizens. “The BJP stands firm against this betrayal of Punjab’s dignity and resources, ” Chugh declared.
