Punjab Government increases testing & treatment to prevent Dengue outbreak: Alok Shekhar, Principal Secretary Health

CHANDIGARH:Principal Secretary Health Mr. Alok Shekhar here today stated that an upsurge in dengue cases has been reported in Punjab in the current year. He said 1724 confirmed cases from across state have already been reported till day. Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Sri Muktsar Sahib, SAS Nagar, Bathinda, and Pathankot are among the major districts attributing dengue cases. He said that to prevent and manage dengue outbreaks, the Government of Punjab has increased the number of testing labs to 39. He added that testing and treatment of dengue is free of cost in all Government hospitals.

Samagra Shiksha Plan To Boost Education Sector In Punjab

A budget of INR 1,126 crore is approved by the Union Ministry of Education for both the school education and teacher training for the 2021-22 financial year under the Samagra Shiksha Programme. Currently, the funds allocated for the program includes both recurring and non-recurring expenditure. In addition to that, in comparison to the INR 906 crore fund allocation by the central ministry, the fund provided to the Samagra Shiksha program is 25% higher.

The cabinet minister said that the education department would now offer the same quota in the posts of Arts stream subjects in lieu of posts remaining vacant in the science and commerce stream subjects and physical education subject as well due to non-availability of suitable candidates.
