Highest ever allocation of Rs.3445 Cr for transforming rural sector in 13265 Panchayats of Punjab

CHANDIGARH: In a bid to ensure holistic development of villages under phase-2 of Smart Village Campaign (SVC), the Punjab Government has allotted funds to the tune of Rs. 3445.14 crore at the disposal of 13,265 panchayats in all the 22 districts across the state. Out of this, Rs. 1603.83 crore have been released under the SVC while Rs. 1539.91 crore have been allocated under 14th Finance Commission with allocation of Rs.301.4 crore made under the 15th Finance Commission.

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government has decided to reopen all the government, aided and non-aided colleges including all the government and private universities from January 21. All the higher educational institutes have to follow the guidelines issued by the Punjab Government regarding Covid-19 from time to time.  The Higher Education Department, Punjab has issued a detailed letter to all the universities and colleges in this regard.

Group of Ministers on Post Matric scholarship scheme directs all educational institutions to release degrees within three days

CHANDIGARH: Taking serious note of the withholding of degrees of the SC students by private colleges/institutions owing to non-payment of fees after the closure of Post Matric Scheme for SC students by the Union Government in 2017, the Punjab Government today directed all the institutions to release degrees to such students within three days. The decision was taken here today during the maiden meeting of the High powered committee of the Group of Ministers (GoM), constituted in the State cabinet meeting yesterday (Thursday) by the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh under the Chairmanship of Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, to decide on the pending issues regarding the year 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 arising out of the closure of the scheme.

Punjab Government amends right to fair compensation and transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013

CHANDIGARH: With a view to providing fair and enhanced compensation to the farmers and other land owners of the State, Punjab Government has amended the norms of compensation multiplier under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 whereby the compensation in lieu of acquisition of lands adjoining the limits of Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, Municipal Committees and Nagar Panchayats in the State of Punjab has been increased, informed GS Kangar, Revenue and Rehabilitation Minister Punjab.
