CHANDIGARH:Principal Secretary Health Mr. Alok Shekhar here today stated that an upsurge in dengue cases has been reported in Punjab in the current year. He said 1724 confirmed cases from across state have already been reported till day. Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Sri Muktsar Sahib, SAS Nagar, Bathinda, and Pathankot are among the major districts attributing dengue cases. He said that to prevent and manage dengue outbreaks, the Government of Punjab has increased the number of testing labs to 39. He added that testing and treatment of dengue is free of cost in all Government hospitals.

CHANDIGARH:Punjab school education minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, on Friday, said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led state government has decided to convert the subjects of the master cadre posts reserved for visually impaired category candidates for their convenience. The cabinet minister said that the education department would now offer the same quota in the posts of Arts stream subjects in lieu of posts remaining vacant in the science and commerce stream subjects and physical education subject as well due to non-availability of suitable candidates.
