CHANDIGARH: After continuously losing from farmers on legal grounds in every court from Collector Court to Supreme Court, now Punjab government is illegally trying to take over 2213 kanal ancestral land of village Jhanjheri of Mohali district without any legal order or papers. This is the statement of the farmers of village Jhanjheri who were addressing a press conference today with the leaders of all opposition political parties and farmers union.
On behalf of the farmers of the village, Ram Singh, Vineet Joshi from BJP, Sandeep Rana and Kulwant Singh Kanta from Akali Dal, Kamaljit Singh Chawla from Congress, Jaspal Singh from Bhartiya Kisan Union Lakhowal, while giving detailed information said that this is an illegal attempt because without papers, when DDPO Mohali Baljinder Singh Grewal arrived with heavy police force on 27 April at around 2 pm to take possession, the land owners demanded a legal order which they could not show, we have videos of this as proof. On 28 April, they met DC Mohali and ADC (D) and later a meeting with ADC (D) went on for about two hours in which the administration officers could not show any appropriate legal documents.
Doing injustice, the administrative officers came with heavy police force on 28th night at around 9.30 pm and again tried to take illegal possession. To suppress the protest of the villagers, which included mostly women and children, they tried to run over them with their vehicles.
According to the law, the revenue records of the village tell who owns the land. The land which the Punjab government is trying to take over is in the name of the farmers as per the revenue records. Why is the government trying to take over the land which does not even belong to the government?

Finally, he warned the AAP government of Punjab not to grab 276 acres of ancestral land of innocent farmers or else they will have to face dire consequences. They will protest and make every possible effort to protect their land.
