GURDASPUR:Sarpanches and Councilors were asked to register maximum number of construction workers with the Board for availing the benefits of various welfare schemes.
Disclosing this here today Mr. Brindarmeet Singh Pahra, Constituency MLA, Gurdaspur said that Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi has joined hands with the Construction and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board to alleviate the hardships caused by the loss of livelihood of the construction workers in view of Kovid-19 epidemic. Financial assistance has been announced for all registered construction workers and each construction worker will be given another installment of interim financial relief of Rs. 3100 / -.
MLA Pahra further said that this amount would be paid directly to the bank accounts of the construction workers. About 3.17 lakh construction workers are registered across the state and an amount of Rs. 90-100 crore is expected to be disbursed in this regard. He also asked the Sarpanches and Councilors of rural and urban areas to get the maximum number of construction workers registered so that they could avail the maximum benefits of various welfare schemes run by the Board from time to time.
MLA Pahra further said that the said financial assistance was being increased as the livelihood of these construction workers had been affected due to the Kovid epidemic.
Assuring all possible help to the workers and their families, he said that the Punjab government was committed to help the able and weaker sections of the society who did not have the means to support themselves.
