Thousands of ASAP students took to the streets in Chandigarh and across Punjab, openly challenging the BJP - “Punjab will not be suppressed!” Now this is not just a university matter, it has become a battle for Punjab’s honor and pride.

CHANDIGARH: The Punjabi Cultural Council has welcomed the Central Government’s decision to withdraw its controversial notification dissolving the Senate and Syndicate of Panjab University, calling it a victory for Punjab’s academic community, students and democratic values. The move has effectively reinstated both governing bodies, restoring the university’s long-standing democratic framework.

SANTA CALARA, CA- Satnam Singh Chahal, Executive Director of the North American Punjabi Association (NAPA), has strongly demanded that a special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha be immediately convened to deliberate on the Centre’s move to dissolve the Senate of Panjab University. 

PHAGWARA: Congress MLA Sukhpal Khaira has criticised the Central Government for issuing a notification amending the Panjab University Act, 1947, calling it an attempt to undermine the institution’s autonomy and federal character. The notification, issued on October 28 by the Ministry of Education under the Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966, introduces wide-ranging changes to the structure of key University bodies.

CHANDIGARH: The Panjab University has been selected by the Department of Science & Technology (DST) New Delhi, as one of the Nodal centres in the region for establishing the Technology Enabling Centre (TEC) at Panjab University, Chandigarh. This may lead to an allocation of Rs 5 crore to PU for developing a self sustainable TEC, through the next 5 years.
