CHANDIGARH: Panjab University’s 72nd convocation will witness a significant change in the formal attire of students and officials, with the introduction of a sleeveless ‘band gala’ button-down jacket made from handloom-blended fabric. Featuring traditional “Baag Phulkari” embroidery on the placket and neckline, the jacket will serve as the official outer garment for the event and will be available for rent.

CHANDIGARH: A grant of Rs 8,50,000 has been sanctioned by the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST) under the aegis of the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Government of India. CHANDIGARH: Panjab University researchers from Department of Anthropology and Institute of Forensic Science developed an artificial intelligence based model for identifying real and forged signatures. Copyright office of the Government of India granted a copyright registration to the AI model. The model can be used to identify the frauds such as signature forgery on important documents.

CHANDIGARH: Panjab University has won the overall champion trophy (1st position) in the Inter-University Youth Festival held at Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana. The festival was organised by the Directorate of Youth Affairs, Government of Punjab from November 29-December 2 2024. CHANDIGARH: The Panjab University has been selected by the Department of Science & Technology (DST) New Delhi, as one of the Nodal centres in the region for establishing the Technology Enabling Centre (TEC) at Panjab University, Chandigarh. This may lead to an allocation of Rs 5 crore to PU for developing a self sustainable TEC, through the next 5 years.
