DHARAMSALA: Kangra Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shalini Agnihotri, IPS, has issued a clarification regarding a recent social media post circulating about an incident on the night of May 3, 2025, involving two women jumping out of a moving vehicle.

According to the SSP, a preliminary inquiry revealed that both women, hailing from another state, had taken a lift in an unknown vehicle from near Anomal Residency to Kotwali Bazaar. As the vehicle neared their destination, they requested the driver to stop. However, the driver did not respond, which caused the women to panic and jump out of the moving vehicle.

The two women were taken for medical examination the same night, and no serious injuries were reported. Police recorded their written statements and identified the vehicle and driver through CCTV footage. The vehicle was found to be a government (DRDA) vehicle.

During questioning, the driver stated he was on a phone call via hands-free mode while driving and did not hear the women ask him to stop. The women confirmed that the driver did not engage in any inappropriate behavior. The incident appears to have been a misunderstanding, leading to panic on the part of the passengers.

The women have declined to pursue any formal complaint against the driver and have since returned safely to their home state.
