PHAGWARA: Punjab has recently faced severe flooding after intense rainfall submerged large parts of the north India .
In response, Rajya Sabha member Dr Ashok Mittal personally visited the affected village kamewal in Kapurthala to oversee the distribution of essential supplies to over 600+ affected families.
Dr. Mittal assessed the damage firsthand and interacted with displaced families. "The scale of this disaster has imposed unimaginable hardship on our community, " he stated.
At such a time, it is not just about extending aid, it is about standing together, restoring hope, and ensuring that no one feels abandoned. Punjab has always shown resilience, and together we will rise above this calamity.”
Dr. Mittal further emphasized the critical need for long-term strategies, stating, "While providing immediate relief is imperative, this calamity underscores the necessity for enhanced disaster preparedness, robust infrastructure, and stronger community networks to mitigate future risks.
Improvement trust chairman Sajjan Singh Cheema , ADC Varinderpal Singh Bajwa , SDM Major Irwin Kaur, SP ( D) Prabhjot Singh virk , DSP Hargurdev singh also joined the distribution drive.
