AMRITSAR: At least 250 students were awarded degrees during the 69th Annual Convocation of historic Khalsa College of Education (KCE) here today. Chief guest at the function Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, Pro-Chancellor of Khalsa University (KU) and Honourary Secretary, Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) asked the students to serve the society with all their might and intellect as it is the education that helps in building good human beings and nations.
Chhina, who said the primary aim of education is to inculcate discipline, moral values and sense of service among men and women, added that the students must adopt high moral principles to secure their futures. He also stressed that those who have got degrees are the ‘future teachers’ and they have higher responsibility to empower all sections of the society and community by imparting value-based instructions.
He also advocated the adoption of modern methods and latest gadgets for providing education as per the new education policy. He said teachers, who are the nation builders must already realize that they must synchronize technology, innovations while providing formal education. He congratulated the students for their achievements on getting degrees and motivated them to live up to the expectations of their parents and teachers.
KU Vice Chancellor Dr. Mehal Singh who was guest of honour also emphasized on the changing scenario of education and how the need for inculcation of value and principles was must in the new educational scenario. He asked the teachers to stay rooted to the value system, develop innovating minds. “The school and higher education is changing. We need professionals but at the sametime they should be the role models also for the future generations through their”, said Dr.Mehal Singh.
