PHAGWARA: Phagwara, March 8: In a significant development in the investigation of recent firing incidents in Phagwara, gangster Virinder Pratap Singh alias Kala Rana has been sent to a two-day police remand by a local court in connection with a firing incident at a prominent sweet shop in the city.
According to police sources, Kala Rana was brought to Phagwara on March 4 from Bhondsi Jail in Gurugram on a production warrant for questioning in another firing case. The police had earlier obtained three days of remand, which was later extended by one more day, taking the total remand period to four days. After the completion of this remand, the accused was produced again before the court on Saturday, where the investigating agency presented its arguments and sought further custody in a separate case.
Considering the request of the police and the ongoing investigation, the court granted two additional days of police remand to interrogate the gangster in connection with the firing incident at a well-known sweet shop in the city.
Confirming the development, SHO City Usha Rani stated that the police are questioning the accused to gather crucial information regarding the incident and to identify other individuals who may have been involved in the crime.
