PHAGWARA: In an exemplary initiative of SSP Kapurthala and Lovely Professional University, an interaction programme between students and cops was organised on the LPU campus under “Sampark Abhiyan” to create awareness about the growing menace of drugs and to encourage youth participation in building a drug-free society.

The interactive session was led by Senior Superintendent of Police Kapurthala, Gaurav Toora, who underscored the urgent need for awareness, vigilance, and collective responsibility among the younger generation. He emphasized that the fight against drugs cannot be won through enforcement alone but requires active cooperation from educational institutions, families, and students themselves.

Participating in the programme were Dean Dr Saurav Lakhanpal, Superintendent of Police (SP) Gurpreet Singh, and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Phagwara Bharat Bhushan, who collectively addressed the gathering and interacted directly with students. Their presence reinforced the strong collaboration between academia and law enforcement in tackling social challenges.

During the session, the officers spoke candidly about the physical, psychological, and social consequences of drug addiction. They elaborated on how substance abuse not only destroys individual health and careers but also weakens families and society at large. Stressing preventive education, they highlighted that early awareness, timely intervention, and positive peer influence are critical in protecting youth from falling prey to addiction.
