Accused arrested for duping family of youth of Rs 36.78 lakh on the pretext of sending him to Australia

KAITHAL: As per the instructions of SP Upasana, the district police is continuously tightening its grip on the accused who cheat.

During investigation a case of cheating in the name of sending youth to Canada, the accused Bhupendra, resident of Balla village of Karnal district, was arrested by the team of PSI Sandeep under the leadership of Economic Cell in-charge Inspector Omprakash. Police spokesperson said that according to the complaint of Rajesh Kumar, resident of Chaushala village, he wanted to send his nephew Vikram to Australia. For this he talked to Mayank and Siddharth living in Noida. The accused talked about sending his nephew to Australia for Rs 40 lakh. 

In May 2024, the accused took Rs 36 lakh 78 thousand from him at different times. After this, both the accused along with Bhupendra, resident of Balla village, Karnal and Praveen, resident of village Lakhnauti, Saharanpur, UP, defrauded him. The account into which the accused deposited the money was opened on a fake Aadhaar card. When he came to know about it and asked the accused for his money back, the accused refused to give him the money back. In this regard, he also held a Panchayat in village Balla along with the accused. Now the accused are threatening to kill him if he asks for money. A case was registered in this regard in Kalayat police station. The accused will be produced in the court on Tuesday, and is being interrogated.
