KAITHAL: The big companies in selling refined and desi ghee have evolved a new method to cheat consumers by reducing quantity of ghee in pouches or containers during the past few months.
Some companies resorted to this illegal and anti consumer practice prior to reduction in rates of GST announcement while some others followed suit after reduction in GST rates . Millions consumers all over the country were being cheated by reputed companies and surprisingly no centre or state govt department has taken notice of this loot and initiated steps to save the innocent consumers from exploitation by companies .it has been noticed that earlier the weight of one litre ghee used to be 905 or 910 grams. But lately the companies under various brands have started selling refined and desi ghee in packing of 750 grams , 820 grams and even lower , which is printed on pouches or containers which used to be straight way one litre equal.
The companies have adopted this practice to exploit innocent non vigilant consumers still who presume the quantity to be one litre as used to be earlier.
Not only this after reduction in GST some companies have resorted to upward revision in prices of items sold by them .The department of consumer affairs of state and centre govt should launch immediate investigation in this matter to save the millions of countrymen from calculated , open loot of companies by misleading purchasers and at the same time lowering image of government.
