KAITHAL: Four accused have been arrested by a joint team of Special Detective Unit and Kyodak Police post in connection with the fight between students and firing at the university gate in NIILM University Kaithal.
Giving information, DSP Gurvinder Singh said that according to the complaint of Nitin, resident of Kyodak, he is a second year student of B.Sc. Sports in NIILM University, Kaithal. On December 4, he was going home after finishing class at around 12:15. At the university gate, some youths sitting in a black Scorpio were fighting with the boys present at the gate and were breaking the glass of the car with sticks. The youth riding the Scorpio took the car outside the gate and tried to run over the boys standing outside. Meanwhile, a young man riding in a car suddenly opened fire, one of whose bullets hit Nitin's left leg. The attackers fired two more rounds and fled from the spot.
The injured student was admitted to the hospital by his uncle's son Sumit, where he is undergoing treatment. According to the injured, those who opened fire included Karna, Arun, Siddhanshu, Harsh alias Hanni resident of Baata village and 3-4 other youths.
Considering the seriousness of the incident, orders were given by SP Upasana to arrest the accused as soon as possible. Following the orders, the accused Karna, Arun, Shidhanshu and Harsh alias Hanni, residents of Baata, were apprehended by the team of Special Detective Unit's SI Mukesh Kumar and outpost Kyodak police in-charge ASI Mohan Singh.
During interrogation of the accused, it was revealed that Arun, Shidhanshu and Harsh were university students and all had come to the university to get Karna admitted. Inside the university, Karna got into an altercation with another young man for bumping his shoulder. After that their fight increased. After that many youths from the other party gathered and attacked his vehicle at the University Gate. Accused Harsh was carrying illegal arms with him, and he fired from the illegal pistol towards the university gate. All three accused were produced in the court on Friday, one was taken on police remand for interrogation and three others were sent in judicial custody.
