Punjab

Silence of AAP on including religious texts of SC community in holy scriptures bill is disappointing

PUNJAB NEWS EXPRESS | July 18, 2025 05:04 PM

BATHINDA: : The absence of mention of idols and religious texts of gurus of Ravidasiya, Valmiki and Kabirpanthi communities in the 'Punjab Prevention of Crimes against Holy Scriptures Bill' introduced in the Punjab Assembly by the Aam Aadmi Party government reflects anti-Scheduled Caste mindset, said BJP leader Paramjit Singh Kainth.

The absence of any mention of the statues and religious texts of the Gurus and other great men of Ravidassia, Valmiki and Kabirpanthi communities in the Bill introduced by the Aam Aadmi Party in the Punjab Assembly reflects the anti-Scheduled Caste mindset of Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, ministers and state president Aman Arora.

Addressing a press conference here today, Vice President of Bharatiya Janata Party Scheduled Caste Morcha Paramjit Singh Kainth said that this Bill clearly reflects the hateful mindset towards the Dalit community by not providing for punishment for the desecration of the statue of Guru Ravidas Ji and the holy book Amritvani, the statue of Lord Valmiki Ji, the statue of Satguru Kabir Ji and the statue of Sant Nabha Das.

The Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government has deliberately ignored these. BJP leader Kainth said that it is a matter of great sadness that there are 30 MLAs and Cabinet Ministers belonging to Valmiki Samaj, Ravidas Samaj, Kabir Samaj and Mahasha Samaj in the government, but they too are avoiding saying anything on this important Bill and are running away from speaking their mind. They have not reacted on this serious issue and this silence is disappointing. This is very condemnable and not opening their mouth to protect the great men is a betrayal of the Scheduled Caste society. The leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party led by Arvind Kejriwal wants to suppress the voice of the Scheduled Caste society.
