PHILLAUR: A longstanding land dispute in Dhuletta village, was amicably resolved following the intervention of Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission Chairman, Jasvir Singh Garhi.
Garhi visited Dhuletta on Saturday to assess the situation firsthand. He held discussions with the Gram Panchayat, the management committee of Gurdwara Sri Guru Ravidas Ji, respected local residents, and administrative officials. After hearing all parties, he encouraged a resolution based on community harmony and mutual understanding.
As a result of his efforts, the Gram Panchayat of Dhuletta unanimously passed a resolution allowing the construction of the long-pending Sri Guru Ravidas Community Hall, which had earlier become the subject of dispute.
To prevent future conflicts, the Panchayat also passed a resolution to officially update land records (Khasra numbers) reflecting the land’s use. Additionally, the Panchayat recommended the immediate transfer of the concerned Panchayat Secretary, Surjit Singh, citing procedural lapses in official records that had contributed to the controversy.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Garhi assured the community that the Commission remains committed to protecting lands associated with places of worship dedicated to Guru Ravidas Ji across Punjab. “If any further irregularities come to light, the Commission will not hesitate to take strict action, ” he stated, adding that the Punjab Government stands with every section of society and is committed to ensuring dignity and respect for all communities.
The meeting was attended by SDM Parleen Kaur Brar, DSP S.S. Ball, Deputy CEO Zila Parishad Sukhbir Kaur, Tehsildar Mandeep Singh, BDPO Jasjit Kaur, Sarpanch Sukhbir Singh Sukkhi, Panchayat members Jasvir Ram Virdi, Dharampal Virdi and Manjit Kaur, as well as Bahadur Ram and Amarjit Kele from the Gurdwara Management Committee.
