CHANDIGARH: Second International Science & Technology Week (ISTW) 2025 on the theme “Transforming Lives through Science & Technology” concluded at Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The week-long academic celebration brought together scientists, researchers, faculty, and students from India and abroad, fostering dialogue on cutting-edge developments and their role in addressing real-world challenges.
Over the course of the week, 20 distinguished lectures were delivered in hybrid mode, featuring eminent scientists from the USA, UK, Australia, Iran, and several other countries. The lectures spanned six thematic sections—Engineering & Technology, Chemical Sciences, Pharmaceutical & Dental Sciences, Physics & Mathematical Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Biomedical Sciences—providing participants with a holistic view of contemporary scientific advancements.
The prestigious scientific event culminated with a valedictory function, where PU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig, in her message, emphasised the vital role of such initiatives in promoting trans-disciplinary research, innovation, and knowledge exchange. She lauded the tireless efforts of the organising team and encouraged students to continue engaging with novel ideas to shape sustainable solutions for the future.
The final session featured insightful talks by eminent scientist Prof. Rajesh Sani, who highlighted the industrial relevance of microorganisms, particularly thermophiles, in the development of value-added products and advanced biotechnological applications, and Dr. Bunty Sharma, whose talk was coordinated by Prof. Rohit Sharma, Department of Microbial Biotechnology.
Chairperson, Department of Microbiology, Prof. Naveen Gupta, presented the concluding report, sharing that the event witnessed participation from more than 900 students, with over 300 attending in person and the rest joining online from across India and internationally. The enthusiastic engagement reflected the growing interest of young scholars in global scientific discourse.
The entire week-long programme was steered by Prof. Anupama Sharma, Chairperson, Department of Chemical Engineering and Technology, as the Coordinator, ISTW 2025, with valuable support from other session coordinators. She presented the vote of thanks.
Prof. Rajat Sandhir and Prof. Naveen Gupta served as co-coordinators from Biomedical Sciences, ensuring seamless planning and execution across diverse themes.
