KAITHAL: The court of Additional Sessions Judge Mohit Aggarwal has acquitted the accused in a corruption case due to lack of evidence. Accused Jasbir was accused of demanding bribe for issuing the marriage certificate of Phool Kumar and Beant Kaur. In this regard, FIR No. 2 was registered in the State Vigilance Bureau, Ambala on 7 February 2020 under Sections 7 and 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Advocate Sachin Jain argued the case on behalf of the defense side. According to the information, complainant Phool Kumar had contacted the vigilance officers and alleged that the accused clerk Jasbir was demanding bribe to issue his marriage certificate. Acting on the complaint, DSP Ramesh Chand laid a trap in the presence of the duty magistrate and shadow witness appointed by Deputy Commissioner Kaithal. A case was registered against Jasbir and he was arrested and the challan was handed over to the court. Charges were framed against Jasbir on 5 October 2021. After hearing both the sides, the court found shortcomings in the evidence and acquitted Jasbir. A total of 16 witnesses were examined in the case.
