Defamation Case Against MP Kangana Ranaut in Bathinda; Next Hearing on January 5, 2026

BATHINDA: The hearing was held on Monday in the case against renowned actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut in the Bathinda District Court. The case pertains to Ranaut's tweets about elderly woman Mahinder Kaur of Bathinda during the Delhi farmers' protest. Lawyers for both sides were present in court, but the elderly woman could not attend due to ill health. 

The court directed Kangana Ranaut's lawyer that MP Kangana Ranaut herself must appear in court on January 5, 2026, for the identification of witnesses. The next hearing in the case will be held on January 5, 2026. Giving information in this regard,  Mahinder Kaur's lawyer,  Bahniwal, said that during the previous hearing, the statements of Mahinder Kaur and another witness were recorded in court. Kangana Ranaut's lawyer was present in court on her behalf. Lawyer Bahniwal said that the process of recording the statements of witnesses is now to take place, and the court has issued directions in this regard. The statements of the witnesses will be recorded at the next hearing. During the previous hearing, Kangana Ranaut had apologized to the elderly woman Mahinder Kaur for her tweets, but Mahinder Kaur clearly stated that she could not forgive her at any cost. She expressed complete faith in the court and said that she would get justice.
