CHANDIGARH: A Canada based NRI woman aged 81 was murdered at her residence in New Abadi, Khanna in district Ludhiana of Punjab. Her her body was found in the bathroom with hands and legs tied with a piece of cloth.
The victim identified as Jagpal Kaur had returned from Canada in the end of October and scheduled to return to Canada in April. She was living alone here since his two children are settled abroad and she also lives with them. She had lost her husband few years back.
Jagpal Kaur a retired teacher was found lying in the bathroom by domestic help who sounded the labourers and a relative living at a distance. The police was called and body was taken in custody. Police has registered a case of murder and further investigation is going on. Pawanjit Chaudhary, Superintendent of Police (Investigation), Khanna, said that prima facie, the woman was murdered Saturday. He told media that police was investigating if it was a planned murder of an attempted robbery.
