AMRITSAR: Keeping in mind the demands, needs and sentiments of the Sikh Sangat, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has established a coordination centre in Birmingham, England. The establishment of this centre has been possible with the efforts of Sikh Committee member from Mumbai Gurinder Singh Bawa and Interim Committee member Bibi Harjinder Kaur and with the support of Khalsa Panth Academy Birmingham.
Its inauguration ceremony was held yesterday with Panthic traditions, in which Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha Birmingham head Bhai Mahinder Singh, SGPC Chief Secretary S. Kulwant Singh Manan, Interim Committee member Bibi Harjinder Kaur, members Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, S. Jodh Singh Samra, Secretary of Dharam Prachar Committee S. Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, Personal Secretary of SGPC President S. Shahbaz Singh, Bibi Paramjit Kaur Guru Angad Dev Ji Niwas along with prominent personalities were present. On this occasion, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami was also present online.
In a press release released to the press from the Shiromani Committee office here today, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that this center has been opened on the demand of the Sikh community living abroad. It will prove to be very important for the community of the UK as well as the entire Europe. Through this center, the community will connect with the Takht Sahibans and the leading institutions of the Panth.
He said that when the community of Europe and England will come to Punjab to visit the Gurdwaras, the Shiromani Committee will ensure accommodation, travel and other necessary arrangements for them through this coordination center. With this, the community will not have to face any kind of hassle during darshan and service.
Advocate Dhami said that the operational service of this coordination center has been entrusted to S. Gurinder Singh Bawa, who is a member of the Shiromani Committee and is also a member of the Takht Sri Hazur Sahib and Takht Sri Patna Sahib Board. It is due to the special efforts and dedication of S. Bawa that for the first time outside India, the coordination center has been opened by the Shiromani Committee. Advocate Dhami thanked S. Bawa and said that this initiative will greatly benefit the Sangat living abroad.
