CHANDIGARH: The Education Department under Samagra Shiksha, Chandigarh successfully organized the Annual Interschool Sports Meet for Children With Special Needs (CWSN) at the Sports Complex, Sector 7, Chandigarh. A total of 320 CWSN participated in different games like badminton, cricket, cycling , football, softball throw and races.
During the first phase of the Annual Interschool Sports Meet conducted at GMSSS Sector 23 Chandigarh number of sports activities were organized - Soft ball throw, badminton, football and cricket for different categories of CWSN where they participated with zeal and sportsmanship.
The second phase, held at the Sports Complex, Sector 7, where Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Nitish Singla, State Project Director –cum-Director School Education, Chandigarh. He graced the event and motivated the participants with his encouraging words. In his address, the Chief Guest appreciated the relentless efforts of the students, teachers, special educators, organizers, and supporting staff. He applauded the initiative for promoting inclusivity, confidence and physical well-being among Children With Special Needs.
The event commenced with an impressive March Past by the participating students. Their discipline, coordination, and enthusiasm created an atmosphere filled with pride and celebration.
The second phase featured a variety of track and field events including: 100-Metre Race, Cycling Race, Wheelchair Races . These events were organized for both boys and girls across different categories such as: Intellectual Disability (ID), Locomotor Disability Multiple Disabilities, HI and other categories.
