CHANDIGARH:On a call by All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF)
power engineers across the nation held protest meetings in different states including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Puducherry, Tamilnadu, Uttrakhand, during lunchtime to support the farmers. who are agitating for the last 13 days.. Farmers are demanding the repealing of all three agriculture laws and the electricity amendment bill.
VK Gupta spokesperson of the federation said that the agitation of farmers is against the economic policies of the central government. The government is hell-bent upon destroying agriculture and just supporting the corporate houses.
The power sector engineers and employees across the country protested immediately against the draft electricity amendment bill when it was issued. The bill provides for the supply of electricity to all the consumers including farmers below the generation cost. The subsidy if any payable to farmers can be paid subsequently by the state directly to consumers.
The move to implement the farming laws and privatization of electricity is
seen by the central government as one of the aspects of economic reforms, will actually give huge trading benefits to the corporates and economically destroy the farmers and common consumers.
