AMRITSAR: Expressing concern over the decision of the Panj Pyare Sahibans of Takht Sri Harmandir Ji Patna Sahib to declare Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal as a Tankhaiya .
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has termed it as an action that creates confusion in the Panth and is outside the rights.
Advocate Dhami said that the traditions and customs of the Khalsa Panth are for solving the issues of the nation, not for creating a national crisis.
He said that it is not appropriate to ignore the supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and such an act will create an atmosphere of self-pity within the nation.
He said that although Takht Sri Patna Sahib is highly respected in the Sikh world, only Sri Akal Takht Sahib has the right to consider Panthic matters.
Advocate Dhami said that there has been a long historical tradition of five Singh Sahibs sitting together under the leadership of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and taking decisions on any Panthic matter. This tradition elevates the Sikh community in the world.
He said that if the supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib starts being challenged from other Takht Sahibs, then this cannot be considered less than an insult to the originality and richness of Sikh traditions.
He said that regarding the current issue, we should sit together and move towards a solution, so that instead of the conflict visible within the nation, Sikh power can be used for national interests, the advancement of the nation, and Sikh propaganda.
