AMRITSAR: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday praised the state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities of the Golden Jubilee Convention Hall at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) in Amritsar, describing it as an emerging preferred venue for national and international events.
The Chief Minister was warmly welcomed by GNDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh during their visit to the campus. Mann commended the university’s academic programmes and ongoing development initiatives, stating that GNDU is setting new benchmarks in the field of education. “This institution is not only providing world-class education but also shaping the future of Punjab’s youth by equipping them with essential skills, ” he said, attributing the university’s achievements to the success of the state government’s education policies.
During the visit, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh briefed the Chief Minister and Sisodia on GNDU’s ongoing academic programmes, research activities, and new facilities for students.
He highlighted that GNDU is the only institution in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh to be conferred the prestigious “Category I” status by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Additionally, the university has been accredited with an ‘A++’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
The Chief Minister assured continued government support for GNDU’s future endeavours, emphasizing its pivotal role in advancing higher education and skill development in the state. The event was attended by Dean of Academic Affairs Prof. Palwinder Singh, Registrar Prof. K.S. Chahal, Dr. Ravinder Kumar, and other university officials.
