SGPC's relief services for flood victims are completely transparent: Advocate Dhami

AMRIK SINGH | September 13, 2025 02:41 AM

AMRITSAR: Taking strong notice of the false propaganda being spread against the Sikh organization by some SGPC members, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that instead of standing with the flood-affected people, these people are involved in political rhetoric. In a statement issued, Advocate Dhami said that the SGPC, being a joint Sikh organization, is working for the flood victims at the ground level and the politics of limiting its efforts is extremely sad and unfortunate.

He clearly said that the SGPC has complete details of the services rendered, which were also shared with the media after the meeting of the Interim Committee yesterday. He said that till September 10, relief services worth more than 77 lakhs have been rendered by the Sikh organization, which includes langar, essential supplies, necessary goods and diesel to strengthen the embankments, etc.

Regarding the Shiromani Committee President Advocate Dhami's suggestion that the services of the Sikh organization be linked with the politics of the Shiromani Akali Dal by these Shiromani Committee members, he said that this is a completely baseless and baseless idea. He said that the Shiromani Committee is a common organization of all and anyone can cooperate in its services.

He said that the decision to provide diesel by the Shiromani Committee was taken from the very first day as per the demand of the people. Under which it was started regularly from Gurdwara Sri Ber Sahib Sultanpur Lodhi and later diesel was provided from different Gurdwaras as per the demand. Work is being done as per the rules of the Sikh organization for its purchase and distribution.

Advocate Dhami said that the resolution number 53 brought by Jaswant Singh Pudain in the meeting of the Interim Committee yesterday, which is being talked about, was regarding the confirmation of the approvals sent for relief services in the immediate period. He said that there is a procedure for the functioning of the organization and the approval of major expenses is given by the Interim Committee.

He said that details are not included in such a resolution, but these details are kept safe with the concerned Gurdwara Sahibs and are included with the bills. These details were made public yesterday as well and anyone can see it. He said that it is surprising that an Interim Committee member should ask irresponsibly about the functioning of the Shiromani Committee.

Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that all these people who are questioning the selfless services of the Shiromani Committee are part of this same system and before they separated, everything seemed right to them. But now that they have joined the other faction, everything seems wrong to them. He questioned what kind of double standards are these?

The SGPC President asked these members to understand the current situation in Punjab and not to deliberately harm the vast services being rendered by the Sikh organization.

He said that it is the responsibility of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to stand with Punjab and Punjabis in this difficult time and the Sikh organization will not hesitate in fulfilling this responsibility.
