MOHALI: The University School of Law, Rayat Bahra University organised an awareness programme on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005.
Surabhi Prashar, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Mohali, was the resource person.
Surabhi Prashar in an enlightening session highlighted the various forms of domestic violence - physical, mental, sexual, and economic abuse - while also emphasising the importance of Free Legal Services, National Lok Adalat, and Mission Mediation for the Nation.
She said public awareness campaigns on domestic violence aim to educate community members about the prevalence of abuse, encourage people to take action to promote social change, and alert survivors to the options and resources that are available to them.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Surabhi Prashar and Dr Dharmender Patial, Dean, University School of Law, ), Dr. Neena (Dean of Academics, Dental Sciences), Distinguished Professor Mangal Singh Bains, and Dr. Swapanpreet Kaur (Head of Department, University School of Law). along with distinguished dignitaries.
Dr. Dharmender Patial also delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the insightful session.
