Cultural show organised on Independence day at Tagore theatre

CHANDIGARH: On the eve of Independence Day a cultural programme was organized at Tagore Theatre here on Sunday. Mr Dharam Pal, Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh, was the chief guest along with Smt Anita Dharampal.

He lauded the commendable efforts of the students and congratulated everyone for celebrating ‘Azadi K Amrit Mahotsav’ to mark 75th year of India’s Independence.

He further said that country has made tremendous progress since Independence. In the recent years also, despite problems there have been Indians who broke barriers and reached significant mile stones in their chosen fields.

The cultural programe started off with the Durga Stuti presented by GGMSSS, Sector 20-B which was followed by a medley by GRIID, Sector 31, Institute for Blind Sector 26 and Snehalaya Sector 39.

A group song was also presented by Strawberry Fields Sector 26 and the Classical Dance (Ganga) was performed by Delhi Public School.

GMSSS Sector 35 engrossed the audience with their mime performance whereas a Medley of Patriotic songs was presented by Moti Ram Arya School Sector 27 and Group Dance (women empowerment) was presented by GGMSSS-16.

An action song by Chitkara International School, Sector 25 and Manav Mangal School was also the highlight of the event whereas the ‘bhangra’ was performed by GMSSS Sector 15.

Vinay Partap Singh, deputy commissioner, Ms Hargunjit Kaur, Secretary, Education, Mr HPS Brar, DSE and other senior officials of Chandigarh Administration were also present on the occasion.
