CHANDIGARH: The Administrator of Chandigarh and Governor of Punjab today ordered to relieve Kuldeep Singh Chahal from his post with immediate effect to enable him to join new assignment in Punjab.
Chahal an IPS officer of 2009 batch is considered one of the most efficient police officers who served SSP Mohali before joining in Chandigarh on deputation with Chandigarh administration. The order to relieve him were issued by Home Secretary of UT Chandigarh.
It is not yet clear where he would be joining in Punjab. It is also not clear immediate reason of relieving him from his post with immediate effect.
No new incumbnent has been posted to replace Chahal. He was in news for exposing a big drug cartel recently involving international smugglers. Two of the key smugglers were arrested from Zirakpur in Mohali and he was about to expose the big drug racket being run in this region.
Meanwhile, the additional charge of SSP Chandigarh is given to Haryana cadre IPS Manisha Chaudhary who is presently working as SSP Traffic.
