PPA signed-BBMB to setup 15 MW floating Solar Power Plant

CHANDIGARH : As a contribution towards National Solar Mission, in addition to the Roof Top Solar
Power Projects, BBMB initiated the process of installation of Ground Mounted and Floating Solar
Power projects at various project stations and Substations in BBMB. The present installed capacity of
BBMB Hydro Power projects is 2936.73 MW and Rooftop Solar Power projects is 3.38 MW.
To move ahead in its mission of floating solar power plant, Bhakra Beas Management Board
(BBMB) besides engaged itself in the regulation of the supply of water and power from Bhakra
Nangal and Beas Projects in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi and
Chandigarh now all set to generate solar.
To further fulfil its commitment towards Green Energy, BBMB is setting up 15 MW Floating
Solar Power Project at Neila, Nangal pond through SJVN Ltd. Power Purchase Agreement for this
project has been signed by Er. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Special Secretary, BBMB and Mr S. L Sharma,
Chief Executive Officer,  SJVN Green Energy Ltd. in the presence of Mr Sanjay Srivastava Chairman,
BBMB on December 23, 2022 at Chandigarh. On this occasion, Er. Vipin Gupta CE/TS, Er. Amarjit
Singh Juneja CE/SO, Er. Satish Singla Secretary, Er. Ruchi Sharma Director/PR, Er. Surjit Singh SE/HQ
and other officers of BBMB & SJVNL were also present.
This project will complete in 18 months and after the commissioning of this project the
total installed capacity of Solar Power Projects in BBMB will become 18.38 MW. The partner states
of BBMB will be beneficiary of entire power from this project. This power will also help partner
states to meet their RPO targets. BBMB has also undertaken the work of installation of 18 MW
Ground Mounted Solar Power Project at Talwara and Nangal through Solar Power Developer.  BBMB
is also planning to setup 11.5 MW Ground Mounted Solar Power Project at Bhiwani and Hisar in
Capex Model.
