World Photography Day by Journalism Dept. At KCA

AMRITSAR: PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Khalsa College Amritsar (KCA) organized a one day guest lecture on the occasion of World Photography day. Lovedeep Sohal, renowned Music Video Director was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Principal Dr. Mehal Singh, Vice principal Dr. Taminder Bhatia along with Coordinator of the Department Prof. Jaspreet Kaur and Dr Sania Marwaha Incharge of the department gave a floral welcome to the Chief Guest and presented him a memento.

Speaking on this event Principal Dr Mehal Singh said that the aim of this event was to help amateurs students to learn the technicalities involved in the field of photography. Dr. Mehal Singh also added that such celebrations will simply inspire many budding artists and amateur photographers from the world to disseminate their idea of simple picture, and will inspire multiple minds to think differently.

Dr. Taminder Singh, Vice Principal of the College told the students about the achievements of chief guest and said that Sohal is well known name in Punjabi Music Industry. He had done more than 100 Punjabi music videos. He had also worked with prominent Punjabi celebrities like Neha Kakkar, Preet Harpal, Roshan Prince, Khan Saab, Honey Singh, Wadali Brothers, Yuvraj Hans and Vindu Dara Singh. While speaking about importance of this day she also added that photography continued to be one of the significant breakthroughs in this technology dominating world.

During the event Dr Sania Marwaha Incharge of the department said that the main aim of the celebrating this World Photography Day was to familiarize the students with the growing importance of photography and to give them practical exposure about digital journalism. Vote of thanks of the event was given by Prof. Jaspreet Kaur, coordinator of the department .

While addressing the lecture Lovedeep Sohal told the students that photography first starts as a hobby which later becomes such a strong passion that one cannot even think of joining any other profession. He said that Photography is really the art of capturing the right emotions at the right time. He also acquainted the students about practical skills required to become professional photographer. He also explained students about importance of lighting in photography, filters and lenses used in photography and different modes of digital photography. Dr. Sawant Singh Manto, Prof. Saundreya Kochar, Prof. Hari Singh, Prof Surbhi Sharma, Prof. Jaskirat, Prof Bhawini and Prof. Harjeet Singh were also present at the occasion.
