AMRITSAR: In the meeting of the High Level Coordination Committee formed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee today to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of the ninth Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, where discussions were held regarding the format for organizing Gurmat Samagam, seminars, Nagar Kirtan etc., a consensus was reached to extend invitations to the President of the country, Prime Minister, Home Minister, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Chief Justice of India, Chief Ministers of various states and Sikh MPs and MLAs abroad for participation in these events.
Talking to the media after the meeting, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that in the meeting of the Coordination Committee, various leaders, dignitaries and scholars have given very meaningful suggestions, which will be implemented for the outline of the centenary celebrations.
He said that the consensus in today's meeting was that various prominent personalities should be invited for the celebrations personally and through letters.
He said that under an important decision, the Central Government and the governments of various states of the country will be asked to convene a special session dedicated to the martyrdom centenary of the ninth Guru. Along with this, seminars related to the ninth Guru will be organized in various universities and institutions of the country and the history of Guru Sahib will be published in different languages of the country.
He said that this year the religious examination conducted by the Shiromani Committee will be dedicated to the ninth Guru and special events will be held in schools/colleges.
Advocate Dhami further informed that a 'coffee table book' dedicated to the martyrdom centenary will be prepared and Guru Sahib will be made into a short inspirational video on social media and will be conveyed to the Sangat.
