Aided Management Federation thanks CM on Portal, Demands Notification to be Issued

LUDHIANA: An emergency meeting of the Non-Government Aided Colleges Management Federation was today held at Devki Devi Jain Memorial College for Women, Ludhiana in which the executed members unanimously accorded thanks and appreciations to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and his government for scrapping the decision relating Centralized Admission Portal for admissions in the Colleges in Punjab and Chandigarh.

The meeting which was headed by Federation Chief Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina meanwhile made an earnest appeal to the Chief Minister to issue the required notification in this regard at the earliest to clear the uncertainties still prevailing over the issue.

“We are thankful to the CM and his entire government for hearing our pleas and assuring that the Centralized Admission Portal will be taken back. Now we request the government to issues the necessary instructions in the form of the notification to the concerned department regarding this”, said Chhina.

Various issues relating the matters confronting the higher educational institutions were discussed in details during the meeting. The executive also decided to write a letter to CM and Education Minister Punjab, Harjot Singh Bains, seeking an appointment from them to discuss other issues being faced by the colleges in the state.

“During the Jalandhar by-election, a top level meeting was held by the Federation with CM, Education Minister and Finance Minister, Punjab Harpal Singh Cheema and they had assured that that they would meet the Federation delegation again in the end of May. We now write to seek time from them to meet our delegation again to draw their attention to various issues”, said Federation Secretary SM Sharma.

The executive also announced that a meeting of the General House of the Federation representing all 170 Colleges in Punjab and Chandigarh will be held at Khalsa College Amritsar next month to discuss various maters confronting the institutions of higher learning in the state. The executive members meanwhile discussed the issues including pending grants, conversion of all aided posts filed under the 75% grants to the 95% grants.
