10 cadets from Maharaja Ranjit Singh AFPI commissioned into Indian Army

CHANDIGARH: In yet another red letter day for the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (AFPI), 10 more cadets of the Institute were commissioned into the Indian Army at the Indian Military Academy. The Passing out Parade was held at Dehradun and was reviewed by General Manoj Pande, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC, Chief of Army Staff.

Pertinently, the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute is working under the umbrella of Punjab Employment Generation Skill Development and Training department.

Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Mr Aman Arora conveyed his best wishes to the newly commissioned officers and exhorted them to serve the nation with full dedication and devotion.

With commissioning of these 10 officers on Saturday, he informed that the Institute has 136 of its alumni commissioned as officers in the three wings of the Indian Armed Forces.

Notably, the Maharaja Ranjit Singh AFPI set up by the Punjab Government has been constantly producing officers for the defence services for the last 11 years. With a success rate of over 52% the Institute is the most successful of its kind in the country.

Major General Ajay H. Chauhan (Retd.); Director of Maharaja Ranjit Singh AFPI, who was present to witness his cadets becoming officers, congratulated them and called upon them to be true to their calling. He exhorted them to be good sons of Punjab and to make the Nation proud.

Meanwhile, to provide wings to the dreams of large number of girls of the state aspiring to don olive green uniform, Chief Minister S Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government has also established National Defence Academy (NDA) Preparatory Wing at Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute for Girls, SAS Nagar (Mohali) from this academic session.
