Vij Recommends CBI Probe in Five-Year-Old Murder Case; Orders FIR Against Police Employee for Ignoring Harassment Complaint

KAITHAL: Kaithal, November 14: Haryana Transport, Energy and Labour Minister Anil Vij reviewed 15 complaints — nine pending and six new — during the District Grievances Committee meeting on Thursday. The session saw a series of stringent directions from the minister, including recommending a CBI probe into a five-year-old murder case, ordering an FIR against a police employee who ignored a woman’s harassment complaint, and forming committees to investigate four separate matters.

In a dramatic moment, a raid was conducted during the meeting itself after a complainant alleged that her husband stored opium and illegal weapons at home.

Zero FIR, Suspended IO, and Immediate Action

In the first case, Manjeet Singh of Siwan Gate complained of fraud in sending his daughter abroad. Vij directed the Kaithal SP to register a zero FIR locally instead of Chandigarh. He initially ordered suspension of the investigating officer for negligence, but withdrew the order after the SP explained the officer’s record. However,  Vij insisted that the FIR be registered immediately. The case remains pending.

Several Complaints Sent for Detailed Inquiry

Kusum of Kasan complained about an unauthorised deduction of ₹5, 600 from her bank account. Although the bank returned the amount in cash,  Vij objected to the procedure as “against rules” and directed the ADC-led Vigilance Committee to investigate.

Cheeka resident Lakshmi Chand alleged a false FIR and inaction on his counter-complaint in a crypto-related case. Vij ordered police to write to the Education Department for departmental action against the accused. The matter remains pending.

Five-Year-Old Murder Case Sent to CBI

In one of the most serious cases, Rishi Nagar resident Neetu Moun said police had failed to arrest anyone for her brother’s 2020 murder. Police informed the minister that proceedings to arrest a suspect abroad had begun, but the complainant expressed dissatisfaction. Vij then recommended handing the investigation to the CBI and instructed the DC to write to the Chief Secretary for action.

Strict Orders in Identity Card Fraud

In another case, Sandhya from Kaithal complained that another woman’s name had been wrongly added to her family identity card. Although the card was corrected and recovery made from the beneficiary,  Vij ordered an FIR against the CSC operator and directed police to check all his records.

Electricity, Subsidy, and Other Grievances

In a complaint regarding pending subsidy for a net house, the minister directed the ADC, SDM and Tehsildar to visit the site and file a fresh report. Complaints related to electricity connection and shifting of high-tension wires were resolved on the spot.

Raid Conducted During Meeting

Randhir Colony resident Nidhi accused her in-laws of assault and alleged that her husband was dealing in opium and illegal weapons. She showed Vij a video, after which he immediately ordered SDM Ajay Singh and DSP Gurvinder Singh to raid the accused’s Kaithal home, while directing Jind SP to raid his second home in Narwana. He also allowed transfer of her case to Hansi.

FIR Ordered Against Police Employee in Harassment Case

A Kaithal woman alleged that two men were sending obscene messages to her daughter on WhatsApp and Telegram. She had earlier submitted the chats to a police employee who took no action. After reading the messages,  Vij ordered an FIR against the negligent police employee and immediate arrest of the two accused. “Crimes against women must be dealt with immediately, ” he said.

Other Actions

Vij ordered sealing of a dairy in Kangthali after learning that it repeatedly failed food safety tests. He also directed correction of a birth certificate in a case involving a private hospital and confirmed widow pension for a Balraj Nagar resident.

Later speaking to the media,  Vij said Bihar’s NDA victory reflected Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies and the “Chanakya strategy” of Home Minister Amit Shah. He dismissed opposition allegations of vote theft, saying “truth has come before the people.”
