AMRITSAR: Senior BJP leader Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina today welcomed the decision of Supreme Court of India to grant bail to former Punjab cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia. Calling it as a major relief for senior Akali leader who was arrested by ruling AAP government of Bhagwant Singh Mann in disproportionate assests, he said, the truth has finally prevailed
Chhina said, the case against Majithia was a clear attempt to silence dissent as Mann government is adopting a vindictive approach against political opponents, functioning under the remote control of Delhi leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh.
He emphasized that this is not the first time Majithia was targeted. He has previously faced harassment under politically motivated cases, including fabricated allegations in a drug-related matter. He said Mann governemnt was misusing Vigilance Bureau to harm the oposition leaders in the state.
Chhina said Majithia’s consistent opposition to AAP’s administrative failures in Punjab, led to a false case registered against him and then leading to his arrest. He said the apex court granted bail as the Pumjab police failed justify the illegal detention of Majithia behind bars for long.
The deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab and the dictatorial actions of the AAP regime cannot be ignored. The people of Punjab will not tolerate this erosion of democracy, Chhina said.
