CHANDIGARH: The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh honoured NCC cadets at Punjab Lok Bhavan and congratulated them for their outstanding performance in the 77th Republic Day Parade and the Republic Day Camp held in New Delhi. He said that marching on Kartavya Path symbolised the cadets’ commitment to the Constitution, democracy and national unity, and described their selection as recognition of their discipline, character and dedication.
The Governor noted with pride that the NCC Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh Directorate sent a strong contingent of 133 cadets to the Republic Day Camp, including 63 cadets from Punjab and 28 from Chandigarh. He appreciated the exemplary performance of the cadets in various training, cultural and competitive events, wherein the NCC Chandigarh Directorate secured the Runner-Up Trophy among 17 directorates, besides winning several medals and trophies.
He also commended the cadets for securing first position in the March Past at the Republic Day Parade on Kartavya Path and in the Guard of Honour during the Prime Minister’s Rally. The Governor further lauded the achievements of cadets in the All India Best Cadet Competition, terming their success a reflection of rigorous training and high standards of discipline.
The Governor urged the cadets to actively participate in anti-drug awareness initiatives. He encouraged the formation of anti-drug forces, and sustained vigilance at the unit level.
Prominent present on the occasion included Principal Secretary to the Governor, Shri Vivek Partap Singh; Major General Shri Bharat Mehtani, ADG, PHHP&C NCC Directorate; and Director Higher Education, Shri Harsuhinder Pal Singh Brar.
