PHAGWARA: Bholath MLA Sukhpal Khaira has strongly condemned the Bholath police for allegedly falsely implicating Dr. Sandip Pasricha, Vice President of Nagar Panchayat Nadala, in a fabricated criminal case under Section 326 of the Indian Penal Code.
In a strongly worded statement issued here today, Khaira described the police action as a gross injustice and an attempt to shield the Nadala land mafia.
Khaira alleged that the police handcuffed and arrested an elected representative merely to intimidate him into surrendering before the local land mafia, which, he claimed, is trying to forcibly vacate a piece of land in Nadala. “This police action is a blatant attempt to coerce Dr. Sandip Pasricha to bow before Nadala’s land mafia led by Daler Singh by registering a false and fabricated case against him, ” Khaira stated.
Terming the case a travesty of justice and a mockery of democracy, Khaira asserted that Dr. Pasricha had been falsely arrested for an incident that never occurred. “The alleged fight on the evening of September 27 never took place, and Dr. Sandip was not even present at the supposed scene of violence, ” he said.
Khaira urged the Director General of Police, Punjab, and the Senior Superintendent of Police, Kapurthala, to intervene immediately and ensure justice for Dr. Pasricha, who, he said, is being victimized for standing with poor residents of Nadala in their struggle to retain possession of land they have occupied for the last forty years.
Extending solidarity with the shopkeepers and residents of Nadala, who have closed their establishments in protest, Khaira said the people’s agitation reflects their deep anger against the misuse of police authority. He emphasized that law enforcement agencies must protect citizens’ rights instead of acting under pressure from influential vested interests.
Demanding the immediate and unconditional release of Dr. Sandip Pasricha, Khaira called for stringent action against Subhanpur police officials responsible for filing what he termed a politically motivated and false case. “The Bholath police must remember that their duty is to uphold justice, not to act as instruments of oppression for the powerful, ” he added.
