AMRITSAR: With the aim of preventing begging and exploitation of children in district Amritsar , under Project Jeevanjot 2.0 , a special checking campaign regarding child begging was conducted by District Program Officer , Amritsar , Taranjit Singh District , Child Protection Unit ( DCPU) at Sri Harmandir Sahib and its nearby areas . The main objective of this campaign was to protect children from the practice of begging and protect their rights.
He said that Project Jeevanjot 2.0 is an important and pro - people initiative of the Punjab Government , which is led by Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur . The main objective of this project is to provide a safe environment to children by saving them from begging and all kinds of exploitation and to improve their future .
During this checking drive , 3 children were found begging in the area near Sri Harmandir Sahib . The Child Protection Unit team took immediate action and rescued the children safely . After this , the children were counselled and further necessary steps were taken for proper care and protection keeping in mind their condition .
Keeping in mind the welfare and all -round development of the children , they were linked with the relevant departments and social schemes , so that the process of their rehabilitation , education and reintegration into society could be started . During this , it was also ensured that the legal rights of the children were fully respected and protected .
